STEVENS POINT, Wis. (May 20, 2025) – SentryWorld is proud to announce that McKenna Nelson, the reigning Wisconsin girls golf champion, has been selected to represent the state at the 2025 Rolex Girls Junior Championship, to be held June 17–19 at SentryWorld in Stevens Point. Attendance is free and open to the public.
At just 16 years old, Nelson—a standout from Beaver Dam—has already built a profile as one of the game’s up-and-coming players. In 2024, she made history as the first Wisconsin junior golfer to win the Drive, Chip, and Putt National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club. That milestone followed a record-breaking 2023 season in which she was named Wisconsin State Golf Association Women’s Player of the Year and became the youngest-ever winner of the Wisconsin State Women’s Match-Play championship.
“It will be great to play a home game of sorts at SentryWorld,” Nelson said. “I really look forward to testing my golf game against these great girls, who are already very accomplished. Most importantly, I am both thankful and excited for the opportunity to represent Wisconsin and show that the girls in our state can play a little golf ourselves.”
The 2025 Rolex Girls Junior Championship will bring 72 of the world’s top junior golfers to SentryWorld, a championship public course and premier destination located in central Wisconsin. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and owned and operated by Sentry Insurance, SentryWorld has hosted multiple high-profile events, including the 2023 U.S. Senior Open and the 2019 U.S. Girls’ Junior. The parkland course is widely recognized for its iconic Flower Hole—a par 3 surrounded by more than 50,000 vibrant flowers and considered the most colorful hole in golf.
“McKenna is an outstanding ambassador for junior golf in Wisconsin and we’re thrilled to welcome her and talented players from around the world to Stevens Point this June,” said Katie Kreuser, SentryWorld LPGA Pro. “Supporting the next generation of golfers has always been a priority at SentryWorld, so hosting the Rolex Girls Junior Championship—a premier event that showcases the future of the game—is a tremendous privilege.”
The Rolex Girls Junior Championship is part of an exciting summer for women’s golf in Wisconsin, with the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open taking place at Erin Hills in late May.
