SentryWorld creates new golf experience for 2022

Fully inclusive rounds on renovated course to appeal to all who love golf

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (November 16, 2021) – In the lead-up to the 2023 U.S. Senior Open Championship, SentryWorld—one of America’s top public courses—is creating a new, truly one-of-a-kind experience that will appeal to all who love playing golf.

“The focus is on making each and every round outstanding, serene, and unlike anything you’ve ever experienced,” said Mike James, SentryWorld general manager.

The new golf experience, which will debut next spring, begins with spacing out tee times from 10-minute to 20-minute intervals so that guests feel less rushed on the course. The expanded intervals will also help to ensure impeccable playing conditions on the course all season long.

SentryWorld also will open two new on-course refreshment stations that will offer locally curated food and beverage options, all of which are included in the green fees. The new $275 day guest rate includes those food and beverage options, plus a GPS-equipped golf cart and all gratuities.

“Once you’ve paid for your round, if it’s on the course, it’s on the house,” James said. “Few public courses in the country offer a fully inclusive experience such as this.”

A lush, parkland course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., SentryWorld is already known as a destination for champion golfers. It most recently hosted the 71st U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship.

During the past 18 months, SentryWorld substantially renovated the course in advance of the 2023 U.S. Senior Open. It also installed the latest in golf technologies—including SubAir Systems beneath every green and drip irrigation systems around each bunker—to provide premium playing conditions throughout the season.

Golfers in 2022 will also have the option of staying at The Inn at SentryWorld.

Sentry Insurance built the boutique hotel this year on its campus in Stevens Point, Wis., to serve its customers, guests of SentryWorld, and visitors to Stevens Point. The Inn is nestled along the 18th fairway at SentryWorld.

The new 64-room inn features high-end accommodations, including intimate gathering spaces, coupled with authentic Wisconsin charm and beautiful views of the course. It will cater perfectly to golf groups looking for a truly extraordinary experience.

“We expect this premium golf experience will attract destination golfers from across the country,” James said. “That will mean good things for the Stevens Point area and local economy as golfers visiting are sure to enjoy the many great things our community has to offer.”

Stay and Play packages, including priority tee time access for the 2022 season, will become available in December. For those looking to book as day guests for 2022, tee times will become available in February.

“While this new golf experience may signal a change to some, I trust that our longtime, loyal golfers will embrace this one-of-a-kind experience,” said Danny Rainbow, director of golf for SentryWorld. “It provides something for everyone, including access to a premium parkland course designed for all, but challenging even to the pros. And it continues to be a great value considering everything that’s included in a round.”

SentryWorld will continue to offer special rates to the local community, military members, and junior golfers.

All other SentryWorld amenities, including the restaurants, indoor driving range, tennis courts, and banquet spaces also remain open to the public.

Access to tee times for the 2023 season that includes the U.S. Senior Open—taking place June 29–July 2—will be published on sentryworld.com in the fall of 2022.
