Young golfers hoping to earn an invitation to next year’s Drive, Chip and Putt Championship National Finals at the famed Augusta National Golf Club will have a chance to start their journey at a local qualifying event to be held at SentryWorld on July 12.
For the second year in a row, SentryWorld was chosen as one of six local qualifying sites in Wisconsin for the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship, created through a partnership between the Masters Tournament, United States Golf Association and the PGA of America. In its fourth year, the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship is open to boys and girls ages seven through 15 who compete in separate divisions in four age categories.
Registration for the July 12 local qualifier at SentryWorld is open on www.drivechipandputt.com. Each local qualifying event is limited to 200 entrants. The registration deadline for the qualifying event at SentryWorld is July 8.
“We’re excited to host another local qualifier for the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship at SentryWorld this summer,” said SentryWorld General Manager Mike James. “This is a great youth golf development initiative that’s both fun and rewarding, and we’re happy to again be part of the qualifying process and provide the venue for young golfers from our community and beyond to compete for their chance to get one step closer to Augusta National.”
Opportunities are available throughout all 50 states during May, June, July and August. Top performers at the local level will advance through sub-regional and regional qualifiers. The top 80 performers—40 boys and 40 girls—will earn an invitation to the National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday, April 2, 2017—the eve of the 2017 Masters.
