Nov. 14, 2012, STEVENS POINT, WI - Sentry Insurance announced that SentryWorld Golf Course will be closed for the 2013 season while it is undergoing renovations and improvements.
“We are excited to announce our plans for upgrading and enhancing SentryWorld Golf Course,” said Pete McPartland, Sentry Insurance President and Chief Executive Officer. “We believe the changes will provide an even better experience for golfers. And, we are fortunate to again be working with the original course designer, the iconic Robert Trent Jones Jr., and his associates.”
Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed SentryWorld more than 30 years ago and will collaborate with architects Bruce Charlton and Jay Blasi on the project.
Rick Wittmann, Sentry’s Vice President – Marketing, said that the intent is to maintain the integrity of the course but to introduce a number of improvements and some exciting changes to several holes. The golf course is expected to reopen in June 2014.
SentryWorld currently is a par 72, 6,951-yard public course, ranked seventh among all Wisconsin golf courses. Dominating the landscape are 35 acres of spring-fed lakes, native birch, green pines and five acres of flowerbeds. Each of SentryWorld's 18 holes was carefully sculpted from 200 acres of flat central Wisconsin wilderness and developed into a rolling lake-filled course. SentryWorld is best known for the “Flower Hole”, the 173-yard par three that is festooned with flowers.
