Golf Digest Ranks SentryWorld Ninth-best Golf Course in Wisconsin
STEVENS POINT, WI – SentryWorld golf course is ranked 9th among all Wisconsin golf courses according to Golf Digest magazine’s ranking of the Best Courses in State for 2009-2010. There are more than 550 golf courses in the state.
A panel of more than 900 men and women golfers evaluated the courses for Golf Digest and based their rankings on seven criteria: shot values, resistance to scoring, design variety, memorability, aesthetics, conditioning and ambience.
Golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed SentryWorld. The par 72 course is 6,951 yards surrounded by 200 acres of rolling hills, sand bunkers, green pines and white birch. The course features five different tees for each hole, allowing golfers to choose the level of difficulty of their game.
SentryWorld's signature hole is the distinctive 173-yard, par 3, No. 16 Flower Hole. The green is an island surrounded with flowerbeds containing over 45,000 flowers that make it one of the most beautiful holes in golf.
The SentryWorld golf course is now open for its 27th season. Rate information and directions are available at sentryworld.com. Tee time reservations can be made online or by calling 715-345-1600 or 1 866-479-6753. Season passes, golf leagues and golf lessons are also available.
In addition to the championship 18-hole course, SentryWorld’s golf facilities include driving ranges, putting greens, chipping and sand areas, as well as a pro shop and restaurant.
SentryWorld is easily accessible from Interstate 39. The course is located at the corner of North Point Drive and Michigan Avenue in Stevens Point.
