Winter fitness - During the winter, everybody gets a little bit less active which can make you and your golf game stiff! To get more limber and enhance the range of motion in your golf swing, it is very important to increase shoulder rotation. The best way to do this is increasing the flexibility in your hips. Without a club, setup like you're going to hit a shot. Fold your arms across your chest and pivot your hips while your shoulders stay still.

As an instructor, balance is an area of struggle that I see in many of my students of all ability levels. I especially see a lot of students losing their balance backwards into their heels. One way to work on maintaining proper balance throughout the swing, is to place the shaft of a golf club under your heels. This will force you into good balance with your weight in the balls of your feet. Hit some shots this way to get the feeling of keeping your weight balanced throughout the entire swing. Maintaining good balance throughout the entire swing and follow through is hugely important to not only hitting quality golf shots, but also improving consistency.
