The summer is drawing to a close and soon we’ll say goodbye to the 2017 golf season. For the second year in a row, we’re holding our Close the Course Run/Walk at SentryWorld. On November 4 at 11 a.m., runners and walkers of all ages and abilities will take on either a 5-mile or 2.5-mile course.
We created the Close the Course Run/Walk because we wanted to bring the community together at SentryWorld to enjoy our beautiful golf course, have fun, get some exercise, and help raise money for a different non-profit organization each year. This year we’ve selected the Special Olympics of Wisconsin because of their service and dedication to their athletes. It was an easy choice for us.
Special Olympics works to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive, and respected members of society. Through sports training and competition, participants can develop and demonstrate their talents, and, at the same time, increase the public’s awareness of their capabilities and needs.
So, this year we’ve invited all Special Olympics athletes to take part in a free 1.5-mile run/walk an hour before Close the Course begins to do something special for the athletes on the day of the event. We hope everyone comes out early to see these amazing competitors and cheer them on while supporting the Special Olympics of Wisconsin.
There’s still time to register. And remember, a portion of your entry fee goes to the Special Olympics of Wisconsin. We’ll see you there November 4!
